A New Hollywood Exclusive

He falls first.

The world gets in the way.

Morgana Bevan

Every scandal I’ve ever printed traces back to one woman, darlings. I finally got the sit-down.

The Lede

Darlings, you know I never burn a source. But you deserve the truth, and the truth is this: every story I have ever broken traces back to one woman.

The drunk Vegas wedding? Her. The bad boy who went sober and smitten overnight? Her. The Grammy winner who turned up on a stranger’s doorstep because he dared... dared!... to cancel on her? Honey, who do you think leaked the address?

The bands won’t confirm she exists. The actors change the subject so fast it gives me whiplash. And yet there she sits in South Wales, drinking tea and claiming to be ordinary. Morgana Bevan says she writes romance. I say she runs this town.

What my sources agree on: she favours the quiet ones, she keeps receipts, and no famous man in her orbit has ever kept his composure. Her defence, delivered with a smile that told me everything? The men fall first, and everything after that is their own fault.

The subject herself. Photographed, for once, without a famous man in the frame.

  5. Trapped two people with secrets in one Alpine cabin, with nowhere left to hide.Defying Ella
  6. Put two strangers at the altar on national television and gave them a marriage neither expected.Married Blind

The Sit-Down

This interview first went to Morgana’s email list. It appears here exactly as it was sent.

AUDREY HARPER:
Let’s kick this off with something simple — what’s the first book you read that made you want to travel somewhere?
MORGANA BEVAN:
Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. The way she described Carcassonne in France cemented it in my mind when I was fourteen. It felt like stepping into another world. I might finally get to visit this summer.
AH:
What’s the last TV show you binge-watched?
MB:
The Mentalist! I hadn’t properly seen it before this binge, and I completely devoured it. My dad was not pleased when he returned home from a birdwatching cruise to find out that not only had I discovered who Red John was, but I’d finished the entire series before he got back!
AH:
What’s your favourite recipe right now?
MB:
Right now, I’m loving Chocolate Covered Katie’s one-minute chocolate mug cake. I’ve been a fan of it since my uni days, and every now and then, I go through phases where it’s all I’m craving. It’s quick, easy, and so satisfying — plus, it’s chocolate, so what’s not to love?
AH:
What’s one travel tip you swear by?
MB:
If you're flying out of London, book a hotel at the airport. You'll feel like an absolute boss the next day when you're heading down to drop your bags, then heading back to your hotel room to chill with breakfast and coffee that you ordered on the Costa app for pick up.
AH:
If you could learn any language instantly, which one would it be?
MB:
Honestly, French and Spanish. I spent so long studying it, it would be a point of pride to finally be fluent. 🤣

Her Own Words. On File.

She’s been telling her readers how it all happens. Naturally, I kept the correspondence.

01 Finding Lily

Morgana Bevan to her readers

On Taylor Swift’s Gold Rush

I heard that song while writing Between Takes and until that moment, I didn't understand why Lily had broken off such a longterm relationship. One song cleared that all up and pretty much gave her form in my head.

02 Before the rockstars

Morgana Bevan to her readers

On growing up with Jem and the Holograms

I had to replay these tapes over and over again to write down the lyrics of the songs. I drew the costumes. I was OBSESSED.

03 When Ros stole the scene

Morgana Bevan to her readers

On Ros becoming the heroine of Fashionably Fake

When I wrote Married Blind, Ros formed so quickly, almost stealing the page with her wild and carefree ways. I loved her and I couldn't wait to see how she put Jackson through his paces. But I also knew she was masking some deep hurts with that fun attitude of hers.

Off the Record

The part where we stop pretending, briefly.

I’m Morgana, I’m Welsh, and I used to work in TV, which is why my characters keep ending up in front of cameras. I write spicy he-falls-first celebrity romance about capable women with guarded hearts and famous men who have to earn the fantasy they represent. Everything in this universe connects, and everyone gets a hard-won happy ending.

For the woman who wants the man, not the myth.
