Cookies are small files a site saves in your browser. Local storage is another way your browser remembers things. This page covers both. For details about personal information, see the Privacy Policy.
What this site uses
- Contact form: a session cookie called
mb_contactand a short-lived token protect form submissions. The cookie lasts until your browser session ends. - Cookie choice: local storage remembers whether you allowed or declined the Meta pixel. It stays until you change it or clear this site’s data.
- Reader settings: local storage can remember display mode, motion, sample-reading settings and position, Vault progress, chosen music and other on-site preferences. It stays until you clear this site’s data.
- Store country: local storage keeps an approximate country code for one day so book links can open a suitable store. GeoJS supplies that code.
- Polls and votes: where these features are available, local storage remembers votes and a random voter token. The token is sent with votes to help prevent repeats.
- Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without setting cookies.
- Advertising: if you choose Allow, the Meta pixel loads and Meta may set cookies such as
_fbpand_fbcto measure ads. Meta controls their lifespan and use.
Change your choice
The Meta pixel is off until you choose Allow. You can choose No thanks and keep using the site. Use Cookie settings here or in the footer to change your choice later. If you turn it off after allowing it, the page reloads to stop the pixel and removes this site’s first-party Meta cookies. You can also clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
