Rockstar Nick Davies on Fame, Fear, and the Mystery That’s Got Us Hooked

Rockstar Nick Davies on Fame, Fear, and the Mystery That’s Got Us Hooked

Darlings, you know I never bring you anything less than the crème de la crème of gossip and glitter, and today is no exception!

I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Nick Davies — Lovers' Knot’s swoon-worthy drummer and the industry’s newest heartthrob in the making. This band has really making moves lately, and with their first label deal on the horizon, the buzz around these boys is electric.

Nick didn’t hold back as we talked about the thrill of rising fame, the wild sensation of opening for The Brightside, and even dropped a few tantalising hints about a certain someone waiting for him back home. Trust me, cherubs, this is one interview you won’t want to miss.

Grab your tea (or champagne, because why not?) and settle in — this one’s juicier than a tabloid love triangle!

Well, well, well, Nick Davies, the man of the hour! Word on the street is that your band Lovers' Knot is this close to sealing a deal with your first label. So spill, darling — how does it feel to know your life could go from jamming in basements to headlining arenas faster than I can say ‘Grammy Awards’?

It’s a bloody mix, if I’m honest. On one hand, it’s like, finally, right? All the gigs in dingy pubs, the late nights loading up gear in the rain — it’s what we’ve been fighting for. But then there’s this voice in the back of my head that won’t shut up, saying, “Careful, Nick, you’ve seen how this can chew people up and spit them out.”

There’s excitement, sure — more than I’d admit out loud — but there’s also this gnawing fear of losing the raw, messy magic that got us here. Signing a deal... it feels like letting someone else take the reins of your baby, and that’s a hard pill to swallow. Still, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t buzzing with the thought of seeing our name on a record and hearing strangers belt out our lyrics.

It’s everything I’ve ever wanted — just praying it doesn’t come with a price I can’t afford. You know what I mean?

I love that. You’re balancing the thrill and the fear like a true artist. But speaking of things that can shake up the ride, let’s talk about The Brightside. How did they get involved in all this? I mean, having their name tied to Lovers' Knot must feel like a game-changer, right? What’s that been like for you guys, and how do you see it shaping the band’s future?

That’s been a bit of a whirlwind, hasn’t it? It started with our friend Nia Thomas. She’s been with us from the start, camera in hand, always capturing our best side — or, you know, our sweaty, exhausted side post-gig.

Her boyfriend’s James Tyler, guitarist for Rhiannon, but also cousin to Lily Tyler. Yup, that Lily Tyler. Frontwoman of The Brightside.

James and his bandmates took a liking to us early on, started having us as their support whenever they could. Guess they talked us up to Lily, and next thing we know, The Brightside’s inviting us to open a couple of shows for them. We nearly fell over.

It’s mad, really. Going from pub gigs to standing in front of crowds that size? It’s everything we’ve worked for. Now, we just have to prove we’re worth the shot.

I’ve got to say, the way this whole thing came together sounds like fate — or at least the kind of cosmic networking that makes this industry tick. Opening for The Brightside? That’s legendary-level stuff. No pressure, right?

But let’s get real for a sec. With everything starting to take off, what’s the biggest thing keeping you up at night? Is it the pressure to deliver, the fear of losing yourselves, or something else entirely? Lay it on me — I can handle it.

I think the biggest worry is staying true to who we are, you know? When you’ve got labels and contracts in the mix, there’s always a risk the music gets pulled in directions that don’t feel like us. But we’ve got a good head on our shoulders, and we’re stubborn as hell when it comes to keeping things real.

Stubbornness can be a superpower in this industry, and staying true to yourselves is what’s going to keep fans falling in love with your music.

Now, let’s talk about those pinch-me moments. What’s been the most surreal part of this crazy journey so far? Was it the first time you heard a crowd singing your lyrics back to you, or maybe that call from The Brightside?

Oh, that’s easy — playing to a sold-out crowd at the Rose Bowl in Los Angele*.* Standing backstage, hearing the roar of thousands of people who weren’t even there for us, and then stepping out and seeing them actually getting into our set? Absolutely mental.

There was this moment during one of our songs when the whole crowd started clapping along in perfect rhythm. I remember looking over at the guys, and we all had this same “Is this really happening?” expression. It’s the kind of thing you dream about but never quite believe will actually happen.

That’s iconic! Absolute chills. No wonder that moment stuck with you; it sounds like pure magic.

Now, let’s switch gears a bit — every band has that one wildcard, the one who’s always up to something. So, who’s the biggest troublemaker in Lovers' Knot?

Oh, that’s Tommy. No contest. If there’s trouble to be found, he’s already neck-deep in it, grinning like a kid who’s just raided the sweet shop.

On stage, he’s a bloody whirlwind — jumping off amps, climbing drum risers, backflips, pulling stunts that make the rest of us hold our breath. He’s taken more spills than I can count, but somehow always bounces back like it’s all part of the act. Keeps the crowd buzzing, but also keeps us on edge, wondering if we’ll need to call for a medic mid-set.

Off stage, he’s no different. Always cracking jokes, stirring up harmless chaos, and making sure none of us take ourselves too seriously. Annoying as he can be sometimes, I think we’d all agree, without Tommy, it wouldn’t be half as fun. Or unpredictable.

Tommy sounds like the human embodiment of ‘live fast, laugh harder.’ Honestly, every band needs a bit of that wild energy to keep things exciting — and maybe a first-aid kit on standby, just in case!

But let’s take it back for a second. Growing up, did you always have your sights set on being in a band? Or was there a different dream before the guitars and drum kits took over your life?

It’s always been music, really. I was the kid banging on tables, dragging my best mates to every gig or festival we could manage. But it wasn’t just about the songs — it was the moments, the connections, the way it all made life feel bigger. Even back then, I think I knew I didn’t just want to listen; I wanted to create something that made people feel the way music made me feel.

And honestly? Music shaped everything in my life, not just my career. The friends I’ve made, the people I’ve loved. You could say the path I’ve taken wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for music. Makes you wonder how much else in life is shaped by the people and passions you’re drawn to, doesn’t it?

You’ve been on an absolute whirlwind this year — tours, sold-out crowds, opening for The Brightside — and now you’ve got a little break coming up between the US and European legs. So, what’s the plan when you’re back home for Christmas? Are we talking quiet nights in Cardiff, or are you spending time with someone special?

After everything this year, I’m just looking forward to some quiet time in Wales. Quiet nights, catching up with family and friends. I’ll probably head to Brecon to see my parents — always good to reset when you’ve got your mam fussing over you like you’re still sixteen.

And, well... Brecon’s one of those places where the past has a way of catching up with you. There’s someone I’m long overdue to visit while I’m there, and let’s just say it’s not the kind of thing I can keep dodging forever. It’ll be good to stop running for a minute, you know? Even if it’s a bit complicated.

Wait! You can’t just drop that and leave me hanging! This someone you’re ‘long overdue to visit’ — care to elaborate? Is it a friend, a long-lost love, or perhaps someone who inspired one of those heart-wrenching lyrics? Don’t be shy, you’ve got us all leaning in now. Spill it—this is the kind of tea I live for!

Ah, well, you know how it is—life gets busy, and sometimes you put off things you shouldn’t. Let’s just say it’s someone who mattered a lot, and leave it at that. The rest? You’ll have to piece together from the songs.

Nick, you’re killing me with the mystery, but I’ll let it slide—for now.

It’s clear you’ve got a hell of a journey ahead, both on stage and off, and I, for one, can’t wait to see where it takes you. Lovers' Knot is just getting started, and if this is the beginning, the sky’s the limit.

Thanks for sitting down with me, Nick — it’s been an absolute pleasure. Until next time, darling.

Well, my scandal seekers, wasn’t that a delicious slice of rock ‘n’ roll life?

Nick Davies gave us just enough mystery to keep us obsessively replaying Lovers' Knot tracks for lyrical clues — and I’m not ashamed to admit I’ll be doing exactly that tonight. From the highs of sold-out stadiums to the quiet complexities of life offstage, this band is set to shake up the industry, one heart-pounding beat at a time.

Oh, and before you go, a little birdy whispered in my ear that the answer to Nick’s secret someone might just be found in Rockstar Regret, dropping February 20th. You didn’t hear it from me… or did you?

Until next time, my little gossip gluttons, stay fabulous, stay curious, and remember: Audrey always gets the story.

Toodles! 💋
